GREAT BRITISH BAKE OFF STAR CHETNA MAKAN’S INSIDER GUIDE TO BROADSTAIRS
The Bestselling Cook Book Author Shares Her Definitive Guide to Broadstairs' Best Restaurants, Bars and Cafes
Great British Bake Off star Chetna Makan was a fashion designer in Broadstairs when she entered the competition. Ten years later, she's now a bestselling and award-winning author of seven cookbooks and YouTube sensation with her Food with Chetna show.
Chetna grew up in Jabalpur - a small town in Central India - and was influenced by her mother’s cooking, which inspired her books and cookery show, combining her creative flavour twists from India’s eclectic cuisine with a love of simple, Indian home cooking.
She will be appearing on the Big Cookery Stage at Scrumptious Bluewater Food Festival, which will make its debut with a three-day, celebrity chef event from 25 to 27 May.
Other names taking part, include TV chef Rosemary Shrager, Lorraine star Suzy Pelta and fellow GBBO personalities, Laura Adlington, Saku Chandrasekara, Chigs Parmar and Jurgen Krauss.
Chetna moved to Broadstairs in 2003 and brings us the ultimate guide to the best places to eat and drink in Kent’s beautiful, seaside town, from exquisitet pastries, egg-cellent lunches and seafood gems to beachy cocktail sundowners and must-have pistachio ice cream from the oldest gelato shop in town.
